Getting to Thailand...Eventually (August 2021)
I hope this letter finds you doing well. I pray God is continually filling you with his Spirit as you consciously choose to walk in joy and freedom each day. I hope you are punching fear, anxiety, and sin in the face.
As for us, we are doing great. Things aren't perfect, and there are plenty of frustrations to go around, but I wouldn't trade this time for anything. Here are some things that are going on and ways you can join in praying with us:
Rescheduling...Again
Our first visa application was sent back to us cancelled. We both had our own little freak out parties and then got to work trying to figure out what happened, how we can fix it, and how long it will take us to get back to Thailand now. Our original date for leaving was August 17th. Our new date will be September 21st. Pray we don't end up next to someone on the plane who tests positive for covid when we get to Phuket (and that none of us have a false positive). If that happens, we have to pay 3x more to go to a special "quarantine hotel" and we won't be able to leave our room for 14 days.
Concert and Speaking at Churches
If you follow us on social media, hopefully you have already seen an announcement for this or have been invited to the event if you live in the area, but Liz is putting on a benefit concert this upcoming Saturday (August 14th) at Adamsville First Baptist here in Tennessee. If you are in the area, you are invited! It's a free event, starting at 7:00. For those of you that aren't in the area (or are hesitant to join in person), the church will livestream the event from their Facebook page, and then I will upload the footage to my Youtube page following the event.
I also have the opportunity to speak at a few different churches this month. So far, August 22nd and 29th are both booked. If you are within driving distance of us and would be willing to let me come share about missions in Thailand at your church, let me know and I'd love to talk.
Some Miscellaneous Prayer Requests
We have a Thai friend in Bangkok whose sister is in what I understand to be a mental institution (or possibly a jail) in Los Angeles after trying to steal a famous football player's baby (you can't make this stuff up). Our friend has asked me to send a Thai Bible and an easy-to-read Thai Christian book to help encourage her sister as well as teach her the Bible. Please join us in praying for her.
We still have our car if you or anyone you know is interested in checking it out. The cost to pay off the note is $12,200.
I start classes to finish my Master's degree on August 19th. If all goes as planned, I will finish in May and I am praying about applying for an online PhD program.
We are still quite far from meeting our fundraising goal. Praise God for those who have committed to partnering with us. We know he will continue to send people to "hold the rope" for us as we serve the people of Thailand.
